Commentary of Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh to Armenpress News Agency

Q: How would you comment on the statement of the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, published in the Russian newspaper Kommersant, that “the Armenian troops should be withdrawn from Karabakh”?

A: Such statements by the Azerbaijani side are aimed at distorting the trilateral statement on ceasefire signed on November 9, and are a continuation of the provocative actions taken recently by the armed forces of this country to undermine the mediation efforts and the peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation. At the same time, it should be noted that the Defence Army of the Republic of Artsakh has been, currently is and will be the main guarantor of the security of Artsakh’s statehood and its people. After the establishment of the Russian-brokered ceasefire on November 10, the Defence Army of Artsakh, together with the Russian peacekeeping forces, continues to carry out its mission aimed at ensuring stability and peace in the conflict zone.
