Statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Masis Mayilian on the terrorist acts in France and Austria

We strongly condemn the recent terrorist acts, in particular in France and Austria, which have resulted in the loss of innocent lives. I express my condolences to the relatives of the victims of these heinous acts of violence and my solidarity to the people of France and Austria. Terrorist methods in all their forms and manifestations threaten the entire international community and have no justification.

The Republic of Artsakh, which has long faced the Azerbaijani state terror, is now more than a month on the frontline of the fight against international terrorism, which Turkey and Azerbaijan use as a tool to implement their geopolitical ambitions and military tasks. Today, the Republic of Artsakh defends not only its right to freedom and a decent life, but also the common values of the civilized world in the face of an existential threat.

Countering terrorism is a common struggle and a shared responsibility of the entire international community. It is impossible to achieve a final victory over this global evil if it is not one and indivisible for all. It is for this reason that on October 6, 2020, President of the Republic of Artsakh Araik Harutyunyan called on the civilized world to take an active part in the fight against terrorism and create an efficient and effective international anti-terrorist coalition.

I am convinced of the urgent need to take the most effective measures for prevention, suppression and elimination of terrorism in all its forms, including those in which states are directly or indirectly involved. International co-operation in this area should become one of the most important elements of the set of measures to maintain international peace and security.
